Congratulations Amy Espeseth!

Congratulations to Amy Espeseth, whose novel Trouble Telling the Weather has won the 2012 CAL Scribe Fiction Prize. Melbourne-resident Espeseth’s novel unfolds through the viewpoints of five characters who live in Siren,Wisconsin, and share a difficult past. Trouble Telling the Weather will be published by Scribe later this year.

The Very Bad Book by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton has continued its winning streak following the recent Kids Reading Oz Choice (KROC) Awards for the Northern Territory and Canberra's Own Outstanding List (COOL) Awards. The Very Bad Book won its category at both presentations! How many accolades can one book receive? Great work guys!

Colin Roderick Award winner!

Our heartiest congratulations go to Karen Kissane, whose book Worst of Days: Inside the Black Saturday Firestorm has won the Colin Roderick Award. The Colin Roderick Award was founded in 1967 by the Foundation for Australian Literary Studies at James Cook University and is presented for an ‘original work dealing with some aspect of Australian life’ which ‘is of the highest literary merit in its own genre’.

WA Premier’s Book Award Winners

Happy as Larry, a novel by Scot Gardner, is joint winner of the WA Premier’s Book Awards for Young Adults.  Scot shares this price with James Roy for his novel, Anonymity Jones.  Congratulations also to Sally Murphy whose verse novel Toppling (illustrated by Rhian Nest James) won the Children’s Book Category.  We’re thrilled for Scot and Sally!
