Rhett Davis
Rhett Davis writes fiction that sits somewhere between the real and the unreal. He is the author of Hovering, which won the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for an Unpublished Manuscript in 2020 and was shortlisted for the Readings New Australian Fiction Prize in 2022 and the Aurealis Award for Science Fiction in 2023. His second novel is forthcoming through Hachette Australia in 2025. His writing has been published in places like Into Your Arms: Nick Cave’s Songs Reimagined, The Age/Sydney Morning Herald, Kill Your Darlings, and The Big Issue, and he has made multiple festival and radio appearances, including on ABC Radio National, the Sydney Writers Festival, and the Melbourne Writers Festival. He has an MFA (Creative Writing) from the University of British Columbia and a PhD from Deakin University. Rhett has also been a consultant, business analyst, bookseller, and creative writing academic.He lives, works and writes mostly on Wadawurrung land in Geelong.
