Sarah Holland-Batt

Sarah Holland-Batt is an award-winning poet, editor and critic. Born in Australia and raised between Queensland and Colorado, she was educated at the University of Queensland and at New York University, where she was the W.G. Walker Memorial Fulbright Scholar. She is the author of three critically acclaimed volumes of poetry— Aria, The Hazards and The Jaguar — and a book of essays, Fishing for Lightning. Her writing has been widely published in international journals and magazines, including in The New Yorker and Poetry, and translated into several languages. Sarah is the recipient of the Stella Prize 2023, a Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Poetry and a Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship, and residencies at Yaddo and MacDowell among other honours. A prominent advocate for aged care reform, Sarah is presently the Judy Harris Writer in Residence at the University of Sydney’s Charles Perkins Centre, and a Professor of Creative Writing and Literary Studies at QUT.
